Historical CPI Indices India (2000–2026)
The table below lists the annual average Consumer Price Index (CPI) values used in our calculators. This data is sourced from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) and reflects the “Combined” (Urban + Rural) index with Base Year 2012 = 100.
Use these indices directly in financial planning: To find the inflation-adjusted value of money from Year A to Year B, multiply the original amount by (CPI_B / CPI_A).
You can directly apply these CPI values in our Inflation Calculator or estimate real purchasing power using our Purchasing Power Calculator.

Calculation Formula
We use the standard percentage change formula to calculate inflation between two periods:
For example, to calculate inflation from 2012 to 2022:
- CPI in 2012 = 176
- CPI in 2022 = 318
- Result: ((318 – 176) / 176) × 100 = 80.68% Total Inflation
