About inflationcalculator.in – Making Indian Economics Accessible

We believe every Indian household deserves to understand the real value of their money. Our free tools help you decode inflation, plan for the future, and make informed financial decisions.

Our Mission

Inflation is often called the “silent tax”. It erodes savings and changes the cost of living, yet it remains widely misunderstood. Inflationcalculator.in was built with a clear goal: provide a free, accurate, and easy-to-use platform that helps Indians understand how inflation, purchasing power, and investment returns interact in real life.

We are an independent educational initiative, not affiliated with any government body, financial institution, or mutual fund house. We do not sell financial products, collect personal data, or push sponsored recommendations. Every calculator on this platform runs entirely in your browser – your numbers never leave your device.

📊
Data Accuracy
All calculations use Consumer Price Index data published by MOSPI and economic data from RBI. We verify against primary sources, not third-party aggregators.
🔒
Privacy First
Your financial data stays on your device. All calculators run client-side in your browser. We never store, transmit, or share your calculator inputs.
💡
Education Focused
We don’t just give you a number – we explain the formulas, the context, and what the result means for your wallet and your future financial decisions.

Our Data & Methodology

Accuracy is non-negotiable. We do not rely on estimates or secondary aggregators for our core calculations. All historical and current data is sourced directly from:

Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) – for Consumer Price Index (Combined) data, the primary measure of retail inflation in India. We use the current base year (2012=100) and update datasets following each monthly provisional CPI release and annual average publication.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) – for monetary policy context, repo rate history, and macroeconomic indicators that affect inflation trends and investment returns across savings instruments like PPF, EPF, and NPS.

Labour Bureau & National Statistical Office – for historical CPI series data prior to the current MOSPI framework, enabling long-term purchasing power comparisons.

Transparency Note: All calculations on this platform are deterministic – the same inputs always produce the same outputs. We document our formulas on the Inflation Calculation Formula page. Historical CPI data is available on our Historical CPI Indices page for independent verification.

Our Calculator Suite

What started as a single inflation calculator has grown into a comprehensive personal finance toolkit for Indian households. Every calculator surfaces a “real vs nominal” or “inflation-adjusted” insight – because understanding the true value of money is our core mission.

What We Are Not

To maintain trust and transparency, it is important to state what inflationcalculator.in is not:

We are not a SEBI-registered investment advisor. Our tools provide educational projections, not personalised financial advice. We do not recommend specific mutual funds, stocks, or financial products. We are not affiliated with any bank, insurance company, AMC, or government body. All investment decisions should be made after consulting a qualified financial advisor.

We are not a data originator. We source all CPI and economic data from publicly available government releases. We do not conduct independent surveys or create proprietary inflation indices. Our value lies in making complex data accessible and actionable for everyday Indians.
