Our Mission
Inflation is often called the “silent tax.” It erodes savings and changes the cost of living, yet it’s often misunderstood. InflationCalculator.in was built with a simple goal: to provide a free, accurate, and easy-to-use platform for tracking the value of the Indian Rupee over time.
We are an independent educational initiative and are not affiliated with the Government of India or the Ministry of Statistics. We bridge the gap between complex official data and the everyday citizen.
Our Data & Methodology
Accuracy is our top priority. We do not rely on estimates or third-party aggregators for our core calculations. All historical data is sourced directly from:
- Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI): For official Consumer Price Index (CPI) data.
- Reserve Bank of India (RBI): For monetary policy context and historical inflation rates.
- Labour Bureau: For historical indices prior to the current CPI series.
Transparency Note: We regularly update our datasets following the latest MOSPI releases (monthly provisional CPI + annual averages). All calculations use the current official base year (2012=100) to ensure financial accuracy.
